This is what you have worked hard for all your life: a luxury yacht where you and your family can have relaxed, lazy, fun-filled vacation days. You've dreamed and talked of these fantasy good times, days and nights of laughter and memories that will last a lifetime. But purchasing a private yacht and owning one - with upkeep, taxes, insurance- just seems too overwhelming .
Now there is a way to make these dreams come true. With the Reef Song fractional share ownership plan, you can purchase a share of a private yacht for a literal fraction of the cost of owning. All the ownership expenses are split proportionally among the partners in the yacht. The partnership manages the financial responsibilities, communications, and maintenance, to assure you the vacation of your dreams.
Fractional
share ownership will give you one month
per
year of personal use of the yacht. Each
year you
will get 14 days of time in the summer (May 12- Aug 12 and Oct 14-Dec
15) and 14 days in the winter (Dec 15- May 12). Aug 12- Oct 14 is
hurricane season. The yacht may be laid up and repairs are done.
"Free" weeks may be available at your risk. There will be two
days between each booking to allow for cleanup and repairs.
Booking Arrangement:
A booking calendar
will be generated each year on Aug 31 showing the available blocks of
time in each season. One month prior to the official bidding process,
the owners should E-Mail their time slot preferences to the Managing
Owner. Preferences should be as flexible as an owner can make
them. The Managing Owner will take these requests and set-up a
preliminary booking calendar, which will be distributed to the owners
for their comment/changes. Owners with multiple shares can
request up to 4 continuous weeks of time. (Example: 4 weeks
during the months of May and June). If there is a conflict of
time slots between owners, then the official bidding process detailed
below shall determine the time slots.
Partners
will select (bid) their 2 week blocks in order according to
their position on the booking list; positions will rotate on an annual
basis (1st one year becomes last next year, 2nd becomes 1st, 3rd
becomes 2nd, 4th becomes 3rd and so on). One 2 week block of time
may be reserved at each bid and bidding will continue until all
partners have reserved 2 weeks. The process then repeats for the second
2 weeks. Partners with multiple shares continue the bidding.
After all bidding rounds are completed a draft schedule can then be
discussed and changes made if necessary. The Owner's Agreement
details the system of booking the yacht each year. Multiple share
owners can select 4 continous weeks of sailing, if they desire.
Shareholders may trade time with other
shareholders to maximize their travel plans.
A
captain can be employed to help you with the
sailing, if you so desire.
Reef
Song is US Coast Guard Documented (Registration) and is home
ported at the Leverick Bay Marina on Virgin Gorda, BVI, where
they have new cement docks with electricity/water/fuel. To keep
our owner costs low, we will use a mooring at Leverick Bay, but at any
time, Reef Song can be brought into a dock for cleaning and
loading up.
Reef
Song is fully equipped with a spinnaker,
spinnaker pole, hand held color Garmin GPS,
handheld and built-in VHF, Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon
for offshore
use, two self-deploying liferafts, and lots of additional equipment.

* Each partner pays 10% of the operational
costs per share:
Dockage and boat care, insurance,
BVI taxes and fees, parts and
repairs, maintenance of the yacht and dinghy.
Expenses were $28k /year for 2007/2008 So for ten
fractional shares, each partner would pay $2800/year for each share
owned.
This number will vary based on expenses, payable quarterly and based on
the expenses for that year.
(Note: The operational costs for 2010 has been set at $2000/yr for each
share. This should cover operational costs, since we are using a
private mooring as well as having reduced the cost of materials,
insurance,
management and
repairs)
* 2 days
minimum between each yacht use for cleaning and prep
* Partners may share their time with personal contacts. Such
transactions are the sole responsibility of the partners.
* Shares can be sold if desired.
* After 10 years, the yacht will be sold and the
proceeds will be distributed to the partners.
Note:
More than one share can be purchased giving more time on the yacht. The
investment will
be $25000/one time, and 10% of the operational costs for each share per
year. Payments are due each quarter.

Song into the docks for cleaning, repairs, loading up.
